Metal sheet bending machine

Computerized machine were created to connect to a manual metal sheet bending device.

With the help of the assembled machine, it is possible to determine the feed of the sheet for bending with millimeter precision, as well as to provide information to the employee about the angle at which to bend the blank (manually).

A frame was manufactured, a thread drive was used for pushing the blank.

An electronics control unit was manufactured along with a touch screen.

Software was created in a Python environment, and a Raspberry computer was used for control.

Several different levels of operator work modes have been implemented in the software equipment. There is the possibility to create and use working blanks. There is also the possibility to see the device’s work statistics (how many and what kind of blanks were made over a certain time, grouped by employee).

The project is unique in its complexity, comprehensiveness, and the fact that it was done in leisure time. Mechanics, electronics, and programming knowledge have been combined.
